U.S. Marshals logoU.S. Marshal Don O’Keefe is proud to announce the arrest of Marcus Tillman, who was wanted in Georgia on four counts of child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and first degree cruelty to children.

Tillman, 42, was profiled on Americas Most Wanted as recently as August 2012. He was sought by authorities after having fled 5 days into his trial in Forsyth County, Georgia. Tillman was eventually convicted in absentia and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Authorities had leads that Tillman was in San Francisco, but were unable to confirm his whereabouts, until last night.

Tillman was apprehended at approximately 9 p.m. by Deputy US Marshals, as well as officers from the San Francisco Police Department, at the Cup-A-Joe Coffee House at the corner of Leavenworth and Sutter Streets in San Francisco. Tillman originally presented a false ID to officers, but quickly admitted his true identity when officers showed him his picture from Americas Most Wanted.

Tillman was taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Francisco County jail, where he will await extradition to Georgia to begin his prison sentence.

According to U.S. Marshal Don O’Keefe, “Marcus Tillman was convicted in the State of Georgia in absentia of a very heinous crime against his own children which resulted in a 40 year sentence. When the U.S. Marshals Service in San Francisco received information that Tillman was in the San Francisco Bay Area, his arrest became our number one priority.”
